BIO DETECTION DOGS CANADA

           Exciting Times In Cancer Research

A Bio Dog is a dog who is scientifically and systematically trained to detect any biological substance, particularly dogs who are trained to detect human diseases, such as cancer. Our trainers at the facility have been certified to teach dogs how to detect cancer and other diseases through breath, saliva, plasma, urine, and sweat. Clinical trials throughout the world verify trained dogs can screen early stage malignant cancers with an accuracy rate of over 90% in both sensitivity and specificity.

DOGS SAVING LIVES WITH EARLY CANCER DETECTION

At Bio Detection Dogs Canada we are currently training a team of dogs to detect cancer cells at the very earliest stages. Once initial training is complete we will be collaborating with medical professionals for clinical trials. By using the super scent powers of the dog, (they have close to 300 million scent receptors compared to our measly 5 million), this non invasive, low cost, highly accurate screening process will enable us to determine if malignant cancer is present at very early stages.

We are currently looking to collaborate with medical professionals wanting to author and publish the results of a clinical trial. Please contact us to arrange for an interview.

PUBLISHED STUDIES

Dogs have shown in hundreds of published studies published in medical journals, to be consistently accurate in both sensitivity and specificity at detecting prostate, breast, ovarian, colorectal, melanoma, lung, and many other types of cancer.   The Following are some published studies involving scientific double blinded trials on dogs' accuracy levels at detecting human cancers.

MORE STUDIES

Dogs are 99% accurate at the early detection of Lung cancer, and 88% accurate at early detection of breast cancer.  Overall specificity levels among both cancers was 99% (almost NO false positives)

The dogs showed high sensitivity (97%) and specificity (99%), for detecting viable cancer cells or molecular cancer markers in the patients' plasma.

Melanoma detection dogs - highly accurate.

Canine scent detection identifies lung cancer with specificity of 93% and sensitivity of 71% numbers unheard of in modern medicine.

The sensitivity of canine scent detection for colorectal cancer was 97% and the specifically was 99%. The accuracy of canine scent detection was high even for early cancer.

OUR WORK IN ACTION

At the first assessment we look for dogs with a medium to high drive and those that are typically curious about their surroundings and check everything out with their noses. Then the dog is trained how to alert on a basic scent.  This will take several months as this step is crucial before moving on.  Samples of cancer and other diseases are introduced on the next step.  At all times the dog must enjoy the work and continue to feel excited, so the trainer needs to be able to read the dogs to ensure this.
